We are proud to farm all 3 indigenous breeds of sheep; Herdwick, Rough Fell & Swaledale.

From a breeding perspective, all 3 breeds offer different attributes. The Rough Fell produces a lot of milk off pasture grass thereby fattening lambs very quickly making them ready from September onwards.

The Swaledale has a low feed input, are generally very good mothers and are the cornerstone of the North of England Mule Sheep bred nationwide when crossed with the Blue Faced Leicester.

The Herdwick is able to rear 2 lambs on very rough subsistence grazing, table ready from January onwards.

All 3 breeds of sheep have their own unique textures and distinctive flavours giving the chef a wide range of cooking and menu options.
